Hatsan Escort semi auto

Postby Longshanx » Wed Dec 06, 2017 9:40 am

Hi fellas,

Have any of you got a Hatsan Escort Semi Auto or any views on them?

Will be used for pigeon, clay and practical shotgun.

I can purchase a new one for around £500 with a 3yr warranty.

Currently don’t own a shot gun and need to research further on them.

Looked on you tube and they seem to have a good rep and also seem reliable.

Will also be looking for a over and under in the next few month for clay and game.

Any advice would be welcome.

I've just bought a Franchi Affinity auto and I'm very pleased with it. 7 years warranty and made in the Benelli factory.

Some Benelli parts and no gas ports to clean out as it works on the inertia system. 28" chrome barrel 3" chambers and steel proofed.

I paid £650 for it and I consider it money well spent. Shot a fox the other day using 50 gm Max Game in BB. Marmalised it, not a twitch!!

On the subject of an OU shotgun I have the Browning 725.

I’ll have to check one out online to see what it looks like, sounds like a nice piece of kit fallow

RRP is £735 but the gun shop charged me £650 for cash.

Mine is in Camo Max 5. Camo all over, even the top of the rib. Natural the breech mechanism isn't camo ha ha.

It comes with several stock shims and 3 chokes. It fits me like a glove and I love it!

Bought a Hatsan Escort at the Midland Game Fair about three years ago. Cost me £200.00 secondhand. Always shoots, comfortable to use, came with four extra chokes. They get a knocking on some forums but mine has never let me down. Patterns well too.. :cheese:

The Hatsan shotguns are cheap and a little nasty, they need plenty of cleaning to ensure reliability.

If you can afford a bit more the Franchi is the better option, if you can afford a lot more the Benelli M2 will do most things.

Wish I had tried the M2 before I spent nearly 3k on my Beretta as it never goes out

If you're going to use an auto for practical shotgun,a 3 shot will be as much use as a catapult.
You'll need a high capacity mag tube for at least 8 shells (mine is a Remington 1187) and it will need to be on your FAC and as such you'll not get a clay pigeon condition for it.as far as O&U's go,I have two 525's and a Zolli columbus gold with the Zolli being my absolute favourite.

Most reviews I’ve read say they all think it’s a great piece of kit for the price Tommo :niceone:

Is that a band from the 60’s Pete?

Will have to have a look on YouTube to see what they were like :die:

I see SidebySide as a less older man in the band. He's aged considerably now,

Seems like it all comes down to personal preference Jack,
some say they like and some dont.
Speaking to my Wifes uncle at New Year and he’s just scrapped his and bought a Benelli and loves it.
Choices, choices??
Do I save that bit extra? Certainly something to consider?
