Are rising prices Killing Sporting Clays

I used to Shoot Sporting clays most Sundays

Last cartridges cost me around £110.00 per 1,000

Last check they was nearly double price

Also Sporting charges per 60 have also gone up well

Do miss it , was a great Stress breaker
Put a name on a Flying Clay and dust it..............

I think you have to put it into context Bob - yes prices have risen, but they aren't at the stage of killing a hobby yet.
What's the price of a 100 clays? Well decent cartridges are £170 / 1000, so £17 + £20 for the clay ground. What else can you and 3 mates do for £37 that lasts all afternoon?
When you look at other hobbies - golf, football, sailing, fishing, etc, etc, etc... it looks quite cheap

Even better if you have your own trap and clays cost £9 / 150

All afternoon? I've seen me and my mate getting through 150 clays in an hour and a half!

But I enjoy getting up to the clays every so often. We used to go every weekend, maybe twice over the 2 days until we got some land to shoot over.

I try and get to the clay range at least once a week - usually take a couple of hours to go around as its a 50 acre site but only costs about £40 a time for cartridges and clays if you do around 150 clays. Split it between 2 of you and make a mini competition out of it between you and its £20 a go. Sure, the price has gone up but is still pretty good value for money at the moment in my opinion.

try and get to clay grounds as often as possible, but a group of us meet evey month or so and use our own traps, clays cost us about £1-£1.50 each plus a box of cartridges not a bad price for a mornings entertainment
