Help with a cabinet

Postby geoffers1 » Thu Nov 06, 2014 9:16 pm

Hi. I'm new here so a quick HI and a quick question.

I just too delivery of a new gun cabinet today, but I'm concerned it's not as it should be. I think the door looks bent inwards and there is a gap down the hinge side and the bottom corner doesn't look quite right to me. I just wanted to know if I should try an arrange a replacement or won't it matter? What I don't want to happen is to have my visit for my licence and then get turned down because of a faulty safe. I'll put some pics in (if I can). Thanks in advance. Geoff

I would get it replaced.

Your FLO will check to see if a lever could be inserted to pry the door.

It's also too small. Way too small. ;)
If you don't have to give up your car because other people commit crimes in their cars, why should I have to give up my firearms because other people commit crimes with their firearms?

Her who thinks she should be obeyed wont have the key so wont know,

And in answer to the question it looks in poor shape to me, get it changed,

A 5 gun cabinet should be the absolute minimum, it will stop you bashing the gun when getting it in and out, and if her in doors goes soft on guns you will be ready.

Yep, that looks knackered. You also should NEVER let SWMBO see inside your cabinet  . Tell her it's firearms law or something, you also need to get a broomstick cut to length to fit your gun bag. When going out to buy your next gun, your broomstick goes out in the bag " just nipping to get a repair done dear" and then the new gun comes home after being "repaired" and goes straight into the cabinet  . I have had to admit to having two guns since I installed a second cabinet on the wall, "because I don't like them to get scratched so put one gun in each cabinet"

It looks like they're going to replace the cabinet with a 6 gun cabinet. Oh how convenient. But I've sold it to hwmbo as a slimline cabinet, not a 6 gun cabinet

In this current climate of random inspections to check security it is essential that the other half , no matter how supporting , doesn't have access to your cabinet or know where the keys are unless they have an FAC/SGC with the correct calibres / conditions.
So you are merely complying with the law when you refuse access  ;)

seriously though

If it is your first inspection for your application you may get asked (or your wife) about where keys are kept etc. Obviously don't tell the FEO where they will be and if asked make it clear that NO ONE will have access except you. If they believe that anyone else may have access then it is grounds to refuse an application even if it's your wife / partner . 8-)

or...

Hey, I must have gotten a real bargain with that (insert name here), I've just seen one advertised for XXX and it doesn't look as good as the one I have. It's a good job he didn't see what they sell for.
