Cheap benelli shotguns

Postby pauldmitchell13 » Thu Dec 19, 2013 4:41 am

New to the site, anyway, looking for a good home defense shotgun. Mossbergs, Remingtons and came across the Benellis in the $500.00 range. Are these cheap chinese guns, do they compare with the 870/590 guns. Would like to get a new shot gun for the new year. Any thoughts would be great...

The US military use Benelli shotguns.
For the avoidance of doubt, there is no such thing as "American English". There is the English language and there are mistakes.

Welcome.
Can't answer you question re your Benellis being Chinese or cheap. In the UK we're not expected/allowed to keep any firearm purely for home defence as it's thought ott & unnecessary, so your own countrymen might best answer your question. I'd have thought any shotgun with the shortest barrel length & capable of being loaded with several shells would be best, along with an attached lamp. I looked at cheapish semi-autos for general use inc Bennellis but settled for a s/a Mossberg 930 as I liked the simplicity & ruggedness.

I'd have thought the cocking noise of a pump action would be enough to scare the bejesus out of most would-be attackers/robbers.

Lots of folks like the Mossberg 500. It’s inexpensive, basic, and works. Personally, I have a Benelli M1 Super 90, it’s out of production, not cheap, and it works. If I were to buy another I would buy the new gun that Benelli recently released with an improved bolt that isn’t as likely to jump out of battery as the M1 Super 90. I’ve never have experience that problem with mine but it seems that others have.

If I were to buy a new pump it would be the Remington 870 Wing Master with its steel fame construction. It’s a very durable shotgun and a classic. There are numerous aftermarket toys and “add ons” available for the 870. I don’t own an 870. I have the granddaddy of pump guns, the Remington Model 1898 in riot gun configuration. It’s more of a collectible but still racks with authority.

In California semi auto shotguns may be a limited option for you due to the insane gun laws.

No matter, whatever you choose, any shotgun is better than no shotgun.

Why scare them, or even give them a warning ?
If their in your home, then point and shoot no warning needed.

I would rather they ran than have to dispose of a body and clean up all the blood.

Indeed. Add to that, the knowledge i'd possibly killed someone (albeit a scumbag). Also, whilst I despise robbing c**ts, i'm not entirely sure it warrants a death sentence.

Vice President Joe Biden says "Buy a shotgun. Buy a shotgun." :worried:

This proves that President Obama doesn't need the Secret Service.
No one is going to shoot Obama with Biden next in line.
