An interesting airgun,

Anyone got one, or know if they're imported here?

If you don't have to give up your car because other people commit crimes in their cars, why should I have to give up my firearms because other people commit crimes with their firearms?

Previous attempts at this type of design have never met the advertising claims.

There was a Titan single stroke. I had a couple of them in the workshop because the power levels were low and never got them above 10ftlbs.

Daystate made one that needed two strokes for full power if I remember and there was another (the name escapes me) that was a single stroke but with a complicated cam arrangement that gave large pump movement initially and more mechanical advantage as it neared full pressure in the cylinder. This might have been designed by Graham Block.

None of them really caught on, possible because of the fairly easy access to cylinder filling facilities in UK.

There's one on guntrader.
An interesting piece of engineering, but £££!

I don't see the advantage. For a hunting trip you can have as many shots as you need in a very light cylinder, why carry the pump strapped to the rifle? For range use you don't want to be pumping, that isn't going to do your aim any good, I've done it and you quickly remember to do all your pumping AFTER the shooting! I see that you can fill this one from a bottle, and that's good, but in either scenario I cant see why I'd ever use a pump fixed to the rifle.

I think it may be in part aimed at the 'survivalist' market, or similar remote users.

Here is a run through of how the FX Independence works: starting with a full charge, the rifle requires three easy pumps with the onboard pump for every shot taken. The rifle can be fired up to 7 times at full power with match grade consistency before any pumping is required. From this point, 21 pumps would be required to return the rifle to a full charge. The shooter can choose any combination of shots/pumps to match the need of the situation.

So it's a minimum of three pumps (using the integral pump) per pellet and you can give it (I assume a maximum of) 21 pumps for seven shots. It's an interesting concept.

The smooth twist barrel shows Ben Taylor is involved, but does anybody know to what extent?

I'll just breathe a sigh of relief when I note that it's not one pump per pellet - otherwise Dumbago would be crowing from his dungheap! :D

I think I'll stick to my HW97K. One pump / one shot with all day long accuracy.

You have to go some to beat the concept of a springer (especially recoilless) and, for me at least, it's only the extra features of a multi-shot PCP that offer a realistic alternative to its simplicity.

Other concepts might be interesting alternatives but I can't see them capturing more than a niche market.

I really ought to add a recoilless springer to my cabinet. :)

Cheerful little soul, aren't you.

Perhaps you'd like to explain exactly why you joined the forum in the first place? If it was simply to complain about guns in general, that's fine. It means we can all just ignore you in future.
