Fife FAC/SGC

Postby Photoguy2910 » Thu Apr 17, 2008 1:05 am

Hi guys,

Just wondering what Fife police are like granting FAC and SGC...

I am looking at going for them both and was wondering if I would get FAC without land that would be safe (got a small shoot but even I know it wouldn't pass for FAC).

I have been offered a farm to shoot but don't have it in writting... yet. Fancied a .22lr, poss a .17HMR and something for fox and deer....

... What do you think of my chances???

The land size is not so much of an issue as the contours. If you have good backstops you can get pretty much what you want.
I have a small farm of about 20 acres and its passed for up to .308.

If you have land, a good reason and have been a good boy, then no problem, you will get it :)

Kev.

The main ground I have is a rugby?cricket club with houses on 3 sides and a rise of about 3 feet on the other... no way will that be passed, its also totally flat.

The farm should be good though.

Been a good boy, so no problen there...

Guess my reason would be need the extra power to reach the further out vermin and a bit of target shooting.

Speaking to my FEO on the subject of shooting over public places... i.e. golf courses... he told me in no uncertain terms that Fife Constabulary wouldn't license a firearm in such a case.

I'm just lucky there's a farm to fall back on.

Get permission in writing mate, and make sure you're insured.

I kinda guessed that, if I was an FEO, there is no way I would give clearance on the rugby pitches

Going to see the farmer soon, He's an old family friend so shouldn't be to many problems... I hope

I have a form I get signed, so thats fine, I'm in BASC so insurance is there.

You don't know roughly how long they take from sticking the forms in to getting a ticket takes with Fife, do you?

Permission slips can be found here:

I'd say you'll get an FAC no probs. The FEO manager is a bit of a tight arse but don't get off on the wrong foot with him and you'll be fine

I've been told thee are 3 FEO's in Fife, 2 are fine the 3rd... well I guess it depends on if you put out chocolate hobnobs or plain.

Robbie, thanks for the link to your permission forms, I have one that I use already so guess I should stick to keeping them the same.

Just need to pick up a cabinet and then I will be set
