I've made cartridges for it from 50-70 cases and an bought a center fire breech block as the original is a rim fire cartridge. In the movie the "Unforgiven" they refer to it as a Spencer rifle. It is not, it is the single band carbine. My brother has the three band Spencer rifle of which only 1000 or so were made. We keep waiting to see who dies first as the survivor ends up with both Spencers. My rifle was carried by a fellow name Esra Kelly who spent most of the war manning forts in Boston Harbor. There were sent south towards the final days of the war and I doubt that it ever fired as shot in anger.
