My first holster...

Postby humperdingle » Mon Oct 21, 2013 8:47 pm

Haven't made many leather items in the past couple of months, so thought i'd try a holster.

I have a few bits of very thick (around 4.5mm) veg tan leather lying around just the right size...

That's a really good looking bit of work   it's a pity there's not much of a market for it though :(

Yeah, I know it's not the real thing but it's as good as it gets over here and, to be honest, it's damn good fun too.

That looks excellent for a pancake!

There is a huge market for Holtsers (still), This guy, Andy Arratoonian from Yorkshire, makes the finest in the world IMHO and is order swamped for almost a year behind demand.

The cold moulded detail on his are superb and I am sure something you can do ;)

It is also a good reason for owning the real pistol as you have check fit and operation all custom pistols  models.

Thanks Dave. The leather I used for this is possibly a bit too thick for detail moulding like the examples in his site.

I'll keep a look out for some thinner veg tan and try another at some point.
