This is a 1937 production rifle that was manufactured by the Berlin-Suhler Waffen-Und Fahrzeugwerke company. This company was given the wartime code of "BSW" and this model was only manufactured from 1937-39 at which time production was transferred to the "bcd" factory.
BSW made rifles are considered some of the highest quality rifles with excellent fit and finish. This rifle is a Russian capture and is clearly marked with a X to show it.
The top of the receiver is marked "BSW over 1937" and the left receiver side wall is marked "Mod.98".
The wood is a beautiful dark walnut, which is comparatively rare due to the Germans running out of Walnut stocks very quickly and moving to a laminated compressed wood stock.
The barrel is in excellent condition, the rifle achieves 2-4 inch groups depending on the ammunition used.
The rifle is fitted with a BadAce Tactical Mauser K98K Ultra low-profile No Drill and Tap Scout Mount and a Vortex Crossfire 2x7x32 Scout Scope.
The original rear sight will of course be provided when the rifle is sold.
