Pear Trees

Postby Tommo » Tue Sep 24, 2013 2:51 pm

Anyone know when's the best time to cut back at pear tree? We have an inherited garden (ain't all vicarages) and there's a good sized pear tree which is heavy with fruit but they are either quite small or very small. Cutting back would, I think, help the tree fruit better from the point of less being more, but I don't know the first thing about pear trees and Google hasn't thrown up much help either.

Any suggestions chaps???

I thought that spring was the time to prune fruit trees before the blossom appears.
